Introduction to Frame Drumming, Part Two @ William Hall
Introduction to Frame Drumming will be held in two parts. This listing refers to Part Two and is slightly more advanced than Part One but no special training or experience is required for either session. Part One will be held on Saturday, July 26. Each session requires separate registration. Come to one or both!
A frame drum (such as the tar, the bendir, the bodhran, and the tambourine) is defined as a hoop-shaped drum with a diameter much greater than the depth of its shell. The soft, quiet voice of the frame drum is meditative and centering in nature, and playing them can yield significant benefits for anyone. Come learn the basic techniques and rhythmic possibilities of this unique instrument—no musical experience necessary. A limited number of frame drums will be provided.
Free and open to the public. Space is limited and registration is required. Register below or contact the library for assistance.
Thomas Terceira has taught people of all ages to play hand drums and percussion instruments. He is an advocate for the power of art, poetry, and music to build community and enrich life.
